Jose Alberto Teran

Jose Alberto was born in Mexico City in 1953. He studied Business Administration at the ITAM, worked for 2 years in banking and in 1978 he joined TERAN PUBLICIDAD, the agency founded by his father in 1947.

In 1988, he was named Managing Director of TERAN PUBLICIDAD. In 1995 TERAN becomes part of OMNICOM GROUP joining the global TBWA network and TERAN PUBLICIDAD is re-branded as TERANTBWA.

In 2007 José Alberto was named President of TERANTBWA and since then he has develop a communications group that includes THE DIGITAL ARTS NETWORK (DAN), INTEGER Shopper Marketing, TBWA WORLDHEALTH, MEDIA ARTS LAB for Apple and EG+ implementation agency. Currently the group is number 1 in the Merca2.0 Magazine national ranking of agencies in Mexico.

Among it's clients TERANTBWA counts some of the leading local and global brands operating in Mexico, such as Apple, AT&T, Bachoco, BBVA Bancomer, Domino´s, GNP Insurance, Tequila Herradura, Jack Daniel´s, Kleen Bebe, Nissan, FUD, Yoplait, Gamesa, VIPS and Volaris Airlines.

In 2017 TERANTBWA celebrated it's 70th anniversary as TERAN 7.0 and 70 years of continuing partnership with their founding client El Palacio de Hierro.

Jose Alberto has been an active leader in the Mexican advertising industry and has served as President of the Mexican Association of Advertising Agencies (AMAP) in 1995, 2000 and again in 2007, he was also been Vice President of the National Advertising Council (CNP). In 1998, he was part of the Jury of the Cannes Festival, and in 1999 he was a founding member of the Self Regulatory Advertising Council (CONAR). In 2000 he founded the EFFIE Awards in México, sponsored by the American Marketing Association, and acted as it's President for 7 years.

He has been married to Graciela for 37 years and has 2 sons and 1 daughter: José Alberto, Alejandra and Andrés and 6 grandchildren: Juan Pablo, Isabel, Maria, Jorge, Paloma and Alejandro. He loves to travel, play golf and is a long distance runner.
