Billy Jurewicz
William (Billy) Jurewicz grew up in Minneapolis, MN in a transformative era of art and technology which now has become ubiquitous. His father was a wholesale distributor for the computer and gaming industry, including Atari, Commodore, Apple, and Activision, to then startup retailers Target and Best Buy. This early exposure to the technology enabled Jurewicz to see a tech-driven future well beyond 1999.
After a Marketing and Journalism BA degree from Marquette University, Jurewicz spent the next 10 years working in the Creative Departments of several high-profile, traditional Advertising Agencies in Chicago, Honolulu and Minneapolis. After an offer to run the digital department at Fallon, an advertising agency famous for BMW films, Jurewicz instead opted to follow his entrepreneurial instincts, and started his own agency, space150, on March 1, 2000, as employee 1.
The premise of space150 was rooted in websites and digital-first experience vs. traditional advertising, just as the dot com bubble was just beginning to burst. Leveraging a software “versioning” model, Jurewicz mandated the agency’s logo, identity, website and business cards be “upgraded” as versions every 150 days (5 months) in the spirit of living in the now. More than 16 years later, space150 has upgraded its identity 42 times since its inception.
Jurewicz is now Founder, CEO and the guiding creative force behind space150’s nationwide 150-person Network, with offices in Minneapolis, New York and Venice Beach, CA. Under his leadership, the agency has grown into an $100M fiercely independent, full-service Digital Agency offering media, strategy, engineering, production, social and bar-raising creative under one roof. Clients include American Express, 3M, Nike, Target, Disney, Coca-Cola, Buffalo Wild Wings and other Fortune 100 corporations.
Jurewicz and space150 have been recognized with the most prominent industry accolades including the One Show, Webby Awards, Communication Arts, Adweek, Advertising Age’s Agency of the Year Award, EFFIE, Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, and the Minneapolis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. Mr. Jurewicz is currently enrolled in Harvard Business School’s OPM program with graduation scheduled this Spring. He is proud father of Gianna (8) and Jameson (6) and a dedicated companion to his better half, Genna Rae.
