Antonio Ocaranza Fernández

Antonio Ocaranza Fernández heads OCA Reputacion, a consulting firm that advises companies on how to build, defend and restore their corporate reputation based on his long experience in public affairs and communication in the Mexican Government and leading corporations in North America.

Between 2006 and 2017 he served as Corporate Communications Director for Walmart de Mexico and Central America, Mexico ́s largest corporation, and between 2002-2006, as Institutional Relations and Communications Director for Mexico ́s glass manufacturing company Vitro.

In 1998-2002, Antonio led the Mexico Office of Public Strategies Inc., a public affairs firm based in Austin, Texas.

In Government, between 1995-1998, Antonio served as Spokesman for International Media for Mexico ́s President Ernesto Zedillo and was intimately involved in Mexico ́s communication strategy to get the approval of the North American Free Trade Agremment (NAFTA) as Press Counsellor at the Embassies of Mexico in the United States (1990-1993) and Canada (1993-1995).

Antonio has also worked as Director General of the Diplomatic Archives of Foreign Affairs Secretariat and as researcher and teacher at El Colegio de México, a leading Mexican think thank. He is the autor of articles on communication, international relations and East Asian affairs and teaches Corporate Communication at the Ibero American University in Mexico City.

He has been President of the Mexico-Portugal Businessmen Comittee and Vicepresident of the Mexico-France Businessmen Committee at Mexico ́s Council for Trade Promotion (COMCE).

Antonio holds a B.A. in International Relations from El Colegio de México and a M.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been condecorated by the governments of Brazil and Chile and serves in the Board of Directors of World Vision Mexico, a global NGO devoted to reduce violence against children.
