In this session...
Marlee Matlin was the first-ever deaf performer to win an Oscar back in 1986. She made history again in 2022, starring in the indie movie CODA, a story about growing up in a deaf family, which won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
As CODA broke barriers in the film industry, Marlee will speak about breaking barriers in media and communications to tell richer, more inclusive stories that resonate across all mediums. She’ll discuss how we can move beyond “normal” stereotypes and start writing more progressive stories that better represent the diversity of our modern world.
