Dan Fierman

Dan Fierman oversees editorial strategy and operations for MTV News, supervising the delivery of compelling and comprehensive coverage to its audience with a core focus on teenage/youth interests, music-focused pop culture, politics and issues-focused news. Under his leadership, the division has continued its expansion into new formats including the “Founders Teen Contributor Network,” multiple weekly podcasts that span the political, film, pop-culture and music landscape, multiple daily video hits across its digital and social platforms and a burgeoning presence of MTV News back on MTV.

Previously at Grantland, Fierman oversaw a team that helped bring ESPN its first Emmy for documentary short films, multiple Webby nominations, and three ASME nominations in 2015.  Prior to launching Grantland, Fierman oversaw culture coverage and special packages at GQ, including its annual Men of the Year and Comedy Issues. He began his career at Entertainment Weekly in 1997 as a writer, authoring more than two dozen celebrity profiles and Hollywood business cover stories for the landmark pop culture magazine.

MTV News enjoys more distribution points than any of its competitors spanning its MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and MTV Classic television networks, mtvU (the only college network to reach over 9 million college students across 750 campuses nationwide), nearly every social platform, including the MTV U.S. Snapchat Discover channel, web, mobile and the MTV News app. MTV News currently reaches 83 million social followers and averages 30 million streams a month.
