Toby Gabriner

Toby has a distinguished 20 year career at the nexus of content, technology, advertising and commerce. ​

​In the late 90's, Toby joined Freestyle Interactive where he transformed the company into an award winning creative and media agency that serviced clients such as EA, Microsoft, Progressive Insurance and Adobe . Toby ​ grew the company by over 500% in three years ​ eventually leading to the company being acquired by Carat one of the largest media agencies in the world​ . ​ ​After the acquisition, Toby was named President of Carat Interactive ​ where​ he led the team that grew billings from $90MM to $350MM winning such accounts as Western Union, Pfizer, Hyundai/Kia, Adidas, P&G and AOL. Moreover, Toby was responsible for creating the industry's first combined TV and digital unit dubbed Carat Fusion which pioneered cross-platform planning, buying and measurement.

​In 2005, Toby was recruited to be the CEO of the buy-side ad serving company Poindexter Systems, later rebranded as [x+1]. ​ [x+1] was the first company to focus on the automation of buying and selling of digital media (dubbed programmatic) which has since become a $15B market globally. During his tenure, Toby doubled revenue each year and oversaw accounts such as American Express, State Farm ​ ​ and Aol. ​ [x+1] was eventually acquired by Rocket Fuel a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq.​

In 2008, Toby joined Tribal Fusion as President. Under his leadership, Toby drove new product introductions including mobile and video, which greatly boosted Tribal's stature from a basic display ad network to a strategic media partner with agencies such as Initiative, SMG, OMD, Digitas and Carat. ​ ​ Following his time at Tribal ​ Fusion​ , Toby was recruited to become President (and later CEO) of Adap.tv a company focused on developing software to automate the buying and selling of video advertising ​. Under his leadership Adap.tv ​ ​grew revenue from $200k in 2009 to over $200MM four years later. ​ ​ Adap.tv was named the fastest growing video technology company in Sillicon Valley by Inc. Magazine and was acquired by AOL in September 2013 for $465MM.

Toby currently advises and sits on the board of a number of companies including 500px, Altitude Digital, AdRoll and Kiosked.
