Jon Housman

Jon Housman is Chief Executive Officer of Ora Media, a television production studio and on-demand digital network, with its home at www.ora.tv. Ora is funded by América Móvil, the leading Latin American wireless service provider, with a majority interest held by noted global business leader Carlos Slim Helú.

Ora launched in 2012 with Larry King Now, which is now viewed millions of times per month online at Hulu and Ora.TV, and broadcast on TV channels around the world. The show has won critical praise, and has featured such guests as Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, Bill Maher, Seth MacFarlane, the Dalai Lama, Matthew McConaughey, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Melissa McCarthy, and Steve Carell, among many others. Larry King Now was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Discussion and Analysis.

Ora.TV's other programming includes Politicking with Larry King (globally distributed both digitally and on linear TV), Off the Grid with Jesse Ventura, NewsBreaker, NewsBreaker en Espanol, Daily ReHash, DweebCast, Wayward Nation, Real Girl’s Kitchen with Haylie Duff (airing in the US on The Cooking Channel), Catching Hell (airing on The Weather Channel), and Brown Bag Wine Tasting with William Shatner, and the Emmy-nominated Beer Geeks. In April of 2013, Ora TV acquired Stick Figure Studios, an Emmy award-winning documentary and reality series production company based in New York.

Previously, Mr. Housman worked at News Corporation, leading and growing media and marketing groups across several sectors, including Fox Entertainment Group, Dow Jones, and News Digital. Prior to joining Ora, he served as President, Digital Journalism for News Corporation, directing operations and investments in the digital news and journalism arena. Among other accomplishments, he led a global team which designed and built mobile / digital content platforms for TV, Newspaper, and Magazine content. At Dow Jones, he headed The Wall Street Journal Europe SPRL, leading the European subsidiary which publishes in nine countries and distributes in 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Housman initiated a significant restructuring and turnaround of the company, launched several new products including its first ever glossy magazines, and led the company’s successful acquisition of eFinancial News in the UK.

Prior to Dow Jones, Mr. Housman was Co-founder and Chief Executive of Jungle Media Group, a New York-based media company targeted at the young professional market, with award-winning properties in digital, print magazines, conferences, and books. He served as the company’s CEO from its founding in 2000 until its sale to Universum Group in 2005. He is the co-author of the book, The MBA Survival Guide (Basic Books), and has been an adjunct professor at the NYU-Stern business school.

Previously, Mr. Housman worked at McKinsey & Co., and at the private equity group Leedan, with both jobs taking him to Europe as well as the Middle East.
