Kim Sengupta

Kim Sengupta is the Defence and Diplomatic Editor of The Independent. He has covered stories nationally and internationally over many years including conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, the Balkans, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Somalia, Darfur, Mali, Sierra Leone, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Georgia and Northern Ireland. He has also written about non-conflict topics elsewhere in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.
Kim has been a finalist three times for Foreign Correspondent of the Year and three times for Journalist of the Year in the British Press Awards and UK Press Gazette Awards . He has been a finalist twice for the Amnesty International Media Awards and also finalist twice for the Orwell Prize for Journalism. He has also taken part in a number of post-conflict resolution conferences.
