More and more sports fans are choosing to stay at home to watch their favourite team. This presents a host of challenges and opportunities for both broadcasters and brands. James Kirkham, from football media brand Copa90, and James Grigg, from Bleacher Report, explore the explosion of user generated commentary, documented footage and curated images that will lead brands to recognise the importance of the fans rights during, before and after the 2018 World Cup.

With 11 different time zones in one country, brands and broadcasters will need to provide real time catch content, leveraging the power of streaming, messaging platforms and social networks. There will also undoubtedly be a focus on the potential of VR and AR to bring the game to life via your sofa. As such, there will be less attention given to the entire live match and more on capturing and extending the key moments for fans across the globe.

James and James will explore how the explosion of user generated commentary, documented footage and curated images will lead brands to recognise the importance of the fans rights, arguably the most important sporting rights of all.
