Michael Bond

Privacy and data protection are a passion for Michael. As a data protection subject matter expert, he believes in a positive sum paradigm where compliance with data protection law and business objectives are not mutually exclusive but complementary.

Ferociously detail orientated and eminently pragmatic, Michael continually strives for excellence across all projects that touch data protection; from designing privacy into multi-million pound digital products, platforms and services, to maximising marketing permissions and the customer experience.

When it comes to investigating complaints, responding to the regulator and negotiating contracts, Michael is most comfortable taking the lead. Michael prides himself on being an excellent communicator and team player, supporting colleagues across business units, trusting in his proven ability to get the best results, every time.

Michael regularly contributes to peer reviewed publications and speaks at industry events. He also sit on the board of the Data Protection Network and is a member of the IAPP.

Michael has a wide remit across publications and jurisdictions but particular areas of focus include:

- contract drafting and negotiation for supplier relationships;
- advisory notes and briefing documents on key issues;
- policy drafting and development;
- subject access requests, as well as disclosures;
- regulatory responses, such as complaints from the ICO, ASA etc,
- complaint reporting at board level,
- privacy by design; and
- PCI compliance.
