Sir Ian McGeechan

Sir Ian McGeechan played for Headingley and made his debut for Scotland in 1972. He won thirty-two caps, playing at fly-half and centre. He captained Scotland on 9 occasions. He toured with the British and Irish Lions in both 1974 and 1977.

In 1988, Sir Ian was promoted to the Scotland coach, and went back to coach with Scotland again between 1999 to 2003. Sir Ian was the British and Irish Lions Head Coach in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2009. In 2005 he coached the midweek side on the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. Sir Ian was appointed Director of Rugby at London Wasps in 2005. In February 2010, he joined the coaching staff at Gloucester as an advisor to Head Coach Bryan Redpath and his coaching team. In 2011, he became the director of rugby at Bath following Steve Meehan's departure. In July 2012, he was appointed executive chairman of Leeds Carnegie Teaching.

Sir Ian was knighted in the 2010 New Years Honours List for his services to rugby and also received an OBE in 1990.
