John Lindahl

24-year-old pop sensation John Lindahl’s resume is already filled with big moments, yet checkered with obstacles along the way. Now, however, it’s his time to shine. In April 2020, he released his debut project, “Opening Night” via Def Jam and Logic’s BobbyBoy Records. The majority of it was written and produced by John himself.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland and raised in Southern California, John didn’t seek out his art; it simply found him. His house was filled with all different genres of music, including 70’s pop and R&B, Frank Sinatra, Queen, and, of course, Michael Jackson. Although it was watching the classic musical Singin’ in The Rain that sealed the deal for him. It was a perfect storm that led John to musical theater at just five years old and extended into regional theatre in his early teens. By the time he hit 14, it was time to level up. In 2011, John auditioned for reality competition series The X Factor where he was a finalist and met executive L.A. Reid. He inked a deal with Epic Records, and the rest is history...or so John thought. Issues arose with every record planned for his release, and so he was shelved. He had significant wins under his belt, having performed with Ed Sheeran at the Grammy’s at just 18, and worked with artists like Justin Timberlake. John was ready to put his growing stardom into motion, but the powers that be weren’t ready for him, and while Timberlake wanted to work with him extensively, his own career made him simply too busy at the time.

Discouraged but not beaten, John went back to the drawing board and started writing and producing music from his tiny home studio. A couple years later, a studio session with engineer/producer Bobby Campbell proved to be serendipitous, as Campbell introduced John to Logic. A friendship was immediately forged, and he was signed to Logic’s then indie label, Elysium. In 2019, Logic announced his joint venture with Def Jam through his imprint BobbyBoy Records and John was revealed as one of the flagship artists. John’s first single “All Day,” arrived with a music video showing Kenny Wormald’s choreographed dance moves to the tune of a smooth hip-hop inspired pop track that showed various elements of his personality as he wooed ladies and exuded a newfound confidence. His debut album, Opening Night, was an extension of that as well as exploring the ups and downs of John Lindahl, the artist, who weathered storms so early on in his career. Late this fall, John is looking forward to releasing another self-produced album, “A John Lindahl Holiday”. Inspired by his favorite music genres (hip hop, punk, jazz, soul, pop), with eight originals and two covers, John guarantees to take us on yet another epic journey.
