Tom founded the modern spectacle maker Cubitts in 2013, which has grown to ten stores and the first spectacle making workshop in London in three generations. A spectacles wearer since childhood, Tom is a reasonably strong myope (with a slight astigmatism).
Tom has been trained (and continues to be trained) by master spectacle maker Lawrence Jenkin, one of three brothers who ran Anglo American.
Tom revived his family boot making business Broughton Boots in 2014, and his life prior includes work in media, animation, and children's television, as well as a short lived career as a milkman.
