Brett Elliott

Brett has over 20 years of communications experience in high pressure and fast paced environments which has given him the ability to deal with unique challenges and solve problems in a calm, measured and resilient manner.
Producing considered, consistent and integrated messaging to unify internal staff and acting as a trusted advisor to some of the country’s biggest advertisers have helped to make him a proven and reliable leader.
As Managing Director of Australian Government at UM, Brett oversees the largest advertising account in the country including an integrated and interdisciplinary team of 80 people in 4 markets with responsibility for $250 million in advertising billings.
His role includes communicating and presenting to senior government stakeholders such as cabinet ministers, parliamentary committees, ministerial advisors and senior departmental officials to assist in the construction and approval of campaigns and other advertising matters.
Internally, his remit includes providing cultural and product leadership across the team and shaping the overall direction of the company as part of the national leadership team.
Previously as General Manager of MediaCom Melbourne, Brett directed the agency’s operations, including senior client and stakeholder management. His responsibilities included managing an agency wide balance sheet, delivering guidance on product development, providing leadership to 70 staff across multiple disciplines and managing high profile media contract negotiations.
Brett also serves as the Chair of the Mediabrands Reconciliation Action Committee, responsible for overseeing company-wide initiatives that contribute to reconciliation and create meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Passionate about teaching and mentoring, Brett has previously worked at RMIT as a lecturer and tutor which included redeveloping their undergraduate media course for advertising media.
