Following 9 years as CEO of World Rugby, Brett joined the NFL in January 2021, taking on the newly created role; Head of NFL Europe. The NFL is the world’s most valuable sports entertainment property and the most watched property in the US.
Brett’s role is to accelerate the growth of the NFL fan base and revenues across Europe with strategic and operational responsibility across Europe in areas that include broadcast , OTT, consumer products, as well as ticketing, hospitality and sponsorship generated by 4 regular season NFL games held in London and now Munich for the first time in 2022.
Formerly, as Chief Executive of World Rugby and Rugby World Cup, Brett was responsible for the strategic and business operations of rugby’s global governing federation. Brett oversaw the implementation of World Rugby's record investment, development and player welfare strategies, the delivery of record-breaking Men’s Rugby World Cups; 2015 in England and 2019 in Japan, the growth of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and Rugby's successful return to the Olympic Games in Rio 2016.
Prior to his role at World Rugby, Brett had a successful career leading major international marketing services companies around the world. This included; CEO of Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper; a top 10 London advertising agency, President of the then largest US advertising agency; McCann USA, and CEO of McCann Europe, Middle East and Africa, based in London.
A former elite level rugby player, Brett represented Australia at Under 21 level and played with French club; Racing 92, in Paris from 1981-90.
Brett has lived and worked in Australia, France, Germany, USA and the UK where he now resides.
