Elijah Quashie aka the Chicken Connoisseur became an online sensation after critically evaluating some of London’s finest or not so fine chicken takeaways.
Dressed in his shirt and tie, Elijah provides an in-depth critique of chips, chicken wings and burger, giving them a score out of 5. His YouTube channel ‘The Pengest Munch’ has become a viral hit across the globe.
As well as having a great popularity on social media platforms, Elijah global success has been covered by media outlets and national from the Guardian and Daily Mail to Buzzfeed, Huffington Post and New York Times. He has appeared on ITV news at 6 London, Radio 1 xtra, Rinse fm, BBC world service news and radio shows. TV executives took notice of Elijah’s ever-growing popularity prompting Channel 4 to commission ‘Peng Life’. A product and brand review show taking Elijah to mainstream TV. The show which aired in August of 2018 was nominated for the Best Original Programme category on the Broadcast Awards 2019.
Elijah caused a stir in the national press as his influence caused a chicken shop to hike up prices due to higher demand after receiving high review scores.
In 2017 Elijah was nominated for ‘Personality of the year’ in GRM Daily Rated awards 2017 along with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Michael Dapaah (‘mans not hot’). He was also nominated for ‘Best Entertainer’ in Urban Music Awards 2017 and was honoured with a Digital Vanguard award by Screen Nation Film and TV awards 2017.
