Jo Holdaway

Jo was appointed Director of Strategic and Commercial Data in January 2014, having spent the previous 7 years as Digital Commercial Director for ESI Media. Working across The Independent, indy100, the London Evening Standard and London Live tv, Jo is tasked with developing and implementing the data strategy across the business.
Areas of responsibility include CRM, customer identity management, data analytics, the commercial use of data and various data-related topics such as viewability and ad blocking.
Launching a successful audience sales programme as part of a wider first party data strategy has transformed how ESI Media sell digital inventory, and this project won ‘Best use of data’ at the AOP Awards in July 2015.
Jo graduated from Bristol University with a degree in biology, and worked for IPC Media for five years in sales for New Scientist, before moving to JC Decaux and The Independent. Jo is also an AOP advisory board member. Her career has been interspersed with travelling, completing an MBA at Ashridge Business School, and having two children.
