Benny Higgins is Chief Executive of Tesco Bank, Group Strategy Director, Tesco PLC and member of Tesco’s Executive Committee.
His career began at Standard Life in 1983. In 1997 he moved to RBS as Chief Executive of Retail Banking where he led the successful integration of NatWest Retail Banking. He became CEO of the Retail Business of HBOS plc in 2006 before joining Tesco Bank as Chief Executive in 2008.
Under Benny’s leadership, Tesco Bank is of the UK’s most established ‘new’ banks, serving over 7 million customer accounts and employing 4,000 plus people. With the launch of its current account in June 2014, the Bank now offers a full range of banking and insurance products.
Benny holds a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics from Glasgow University. He is Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries, member of the Scottish Government’s Financial Services Advisory Board (FiSAB) and Princes Trust Ambassador.
