Marcus, who holds the Simonyi Professorship for the Public Understanding of Science, has done more than anyone in recent years to bring maths and science into the UK’s popular culture. In 2009 he won the Michael Faraday Prize from the Royal Society of London for “excellence in communicating science to UK audiences”, for both his academic work and TV and radio appearances including the School of Hard Sums. Marcus’s enthusiasm for maths, data, science, tech and innovation is infectious and his work helps to demystify the often exclusive world of mathematics. Join Mark Creighton for a fascinating discussion with Marcus on his love of maths and how he harnesses it to both educate and entertain.
