Richard Halton
Richard is Director of Origin, the advertiser backed initiative to deliver cross media measurement. He developed the proposed approach with ISBA and is part of the global group driving the approach across multiple markets.
Richard was formerly Chief Executive of YouView, the connected TV and data platform powering BT and Talk TV, co-owners of the venture with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Viacom and Arqiva. He founded the company in 2010, launched YouView in 2012 and grew it to three million UK homes before handing over the reins in 2019.
Prior to YouView, Richard had a number of roles at the BBC, latterly leading the Business Strategy team responsible for partner relationships, commercial and platform strategy and he was on the Board of Freeview. He helped launch BBC Three and was part of the BBC One channel team; he led Creative Future, an editorial review to position the organisation for the digital age and a review of the BBC’s production businesses.
