In this session...

As we consider the future of media, we may need to redefine what we mean by the words “Buzz” and “Journalism”. In today’s world, where the dynamism of spreading and sharing is more valuable than ever, creating "content with buzz" is now more important than earning page views.

In this new world, the technology to create such content is something on everyone’s mind. On the other hand, the rise of investigate and brand journalism has brought a change to what it means to be a news organization or a reporter. Could “Buzz” become a science? Is journalism dead? What will the relationship between media outlets and companies become? In this session, Daisuke Furuta, the founding editor of the recently launched BuzzFeed Japan, Toshihiro Yamada, the chief editor of leading online media “Toyo Keizai Online”, and Tetsuya Honda, the CEO of strategic PR agency “BlueCurrent Japan” (as moderator), will talk about the future of media especially as it relates to the evolving meanings of “Buzz” and “Journalism”.
