In this session...

Even with the stress of the pandemic behind us, our nation’s collective mental health remains a salient topic, particularly within the advertising industry — long characterized by high stress and employee burnout. This session brings together a collection of agency leaders for a frank conversation about how their organizations are addressing the mental health needs of their teams.

A recent survey of agency staff across the UK and the US found that half suffered stress or burnout from the pitch process, resulting in 17% taking paid time off work, 11% being medically unfit to work, and 11% quitting altogether. And that’s just the pitch; what happens when they get the account?

Clearly, as an industry, we need to talk.

This panel will feature an honest discussion about the toll our industry can take on the mental health of employees, and what agencies can do to change that for the better.

What You'll Learn from This Session...

  1. The paradigm shift that has occurred in post-pandemic work expectations and the influx of Gen Z employees in agencies have placed mental health and well-being among the top concerns of today’s agency workforce.
  2. Employees expect their agencies to care just as much about their mental health as their physical health, and have policies, tools, and resources that help them to maintain it.
  3. Agencies need to do more than just ensure that mental health coverage is covered in their insurance benefits. It requires an organizational commitment to mental health and a suite of tools to address it.
  4. Flexible work schedules that include “mental health days,” customized digital well-being tools and employer-provided access to mental health clinicians are some of the ways agencies can do more.
