Marianne Malina

When Marianne was 23 years old, she vowed to herself that she would go somewhere new every year. But her thirst for the undiscovered is not limited to travel. She’s an entrepreneur through and through, passionate about learning more, trying new things and finding a better way.

As the president of GSD&M, Marianne brings this entrepreneurial spirit to the agency, driving GSD&M’s core purpose—ideas that make a difference. She is passionate about having the best talent, preserving and growing GSD&M’s authentic culture and winning for our clients, our people and our community.

In her 14 years at the agency, she has held leadership positions including creative managing director and account director where she was steward of brands like Southwest Airlines, KOHLER and Legacy, and continues to play a key role on many of GSD&M’s accounts today. Under her leadership, the Southwest Airlines team saw a policy turn into a cultural phenomenon when she led the integrated “Bags Fly Free” campaign, which won a Gold Effie Award.

Prior to GSD&M, Marianne worked in Portland, Oregon, as a producer for clients like Nike, Adidas and Microsoft at Limbo Films. She got her start in advertising at Cole & Weber and Borders Perrin Norrander working in account management.

She graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in journalism/advertising. In her free time, she enjoys exploring life with her husband, Joe, and son, Milo, and creating goodness in the kitchen.
