Jennifer Gefsky

Jennifer Gefsky is a labor and employment lawyer, entrepreneur and author.

Jennifer is a Partner in the Employment, Labor & Workforce Management practice at Epstein Becker Green and is based in the Firm’s New York City office.

Jennifer co-founded Après, a digital recruiting platform that connects women looking to return to or transition within the workforce with companies seeking talent and diversity, in May 2016. Along with her Co-Founder, Niccole Kroll, Jennifer saw from personal experience that there was no place for women to turn when they are ready to reenter the workforce after a career break. At the same time, there was no effective tool for companies who wanted to move the needle on gender diversity and efficiently recruit from this untapped pool of talent.
Après features original content, tutorials, inspiring stories of women who have successfully made the transition back to the workforce, and a vetted roster of career coaches. Après has tens of thousands of members from all 50 states. Après has partnered with hundreds of companies including JP Morgan Chase, Facebook, Credit Suisse, Fidelity, Major League Baseball, SAP, AT&T, Netflix, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and many more.

Since its launch, Après has been widely recognized in the press for its inspired, relevant mission. From The New York Times to The Washington Post, Vogue to Real Simple, and CNN International to Fox Business Network, Jennifer is often interviewed for her perspective as a woman who recognized the challenges women face when they want to return to the workforce and as an entrepreneur who decided to do something about it.

Prior to launching Apres, Jennifer was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Major League Baseball (MLB), where, among other things, she advised MLB’s commissioner on all matters relating to players and umpires and participated in collective bargaining agreement negotiations. While at MLB, at age 30, Jennifer was recognized as a “40 Under 40 rising star” by Crain’s New York Business.
Based on her collective experiences, including her time out of the workforce to raise her children, Jennifer co-authored the forthcoming HarperBusiness book, Your Turn: Careers, Kids, and Comebacks - A Working Mother's Guide, launching October 1, 2019.
