Mark Penn

Mark’s career spans 40 years in market research, advertising, public relations, polling and consulting, and he has advised world leaders, led companies, and written two bestselling books. Currently, he is the President and Managing Partner of The Stagwell Group, a private equity fund that invests in marketing services companies and is reinventing the traditional holding company model. Before founding Stagwell, he served in senior executive positions at Microsoft, where he ran advertising and was Chief Strategy Officer. Prior to that, he was CEO of WPP’s Burson-Marsteller, which he managed to record success and profit growth. Penn joined Burson after starting, building and selling Penn Schoen Berland, a market research firm, to WPP. Mark has advised political leaders including President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, and more than 25 leaders in the Asia, Latin America, and Europe. Penn’s new book “Microtrend Squared” comes ten years after his bestseller “Microtrends”.
