Martin Barthel

As Global Head of eCommerce & Retail Strategy, Martin leads the company’s development and implementation of a holistic strategy for how it works with pure-play and multi-channel retailers in an effort to drive sales for those businesses. In this role, he also sets the course for how these verticals can best use Facebook’s apps and services to grow their businesses in a mobile-first environment. Prior to joining Facebook, Martin spent more than 10 years at eBay where he, most recently, was a member of the German management team, leading eBay’s Consumer Electronics, Home & Garden and Motors businesses. Martin began his career as a strategic marketer for Chanel and prior to that, he worked as a Management Consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. Martin studied economics at the EBS in Oestrich-Winkel and at the ESCP-EAP in Paris, Oxford and Berlin. Martin is based out of Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
