Sarah Kate Ellis

Sarah Kate is a 17 year veteran of the media industry and has spent the past 2 ½ years refocusing GLAAD to accelerate acceptance for LGBT people everywhere including expanding their very successful work globally and growing the organization adding a team to work exclusively on Trans visibility and a focus on the US South.

Sarah Kate has used GLAAD’s position as the nation’s leading media advocacy organization to demand and generate coverage of LGBT Russians during the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. She worked closely with Facebook to expand the social network’s gender options to be more inclusive of transgender and gender non-conforming users.

She has also challenged the famed NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade ban on LGBT participation and was one of the first on the ground in Orlando to make sure the press was reporting on the tragedy to the LGBTQ community.
