Katie Vanneck-Smith

Katie Vanneck-Smith is Chief Customer Officer and Global Managing Director, International, for Dow Jones, a position she has held since September 2014.

As head of the Customer Group, Ms. Vanneck-Smith is responsible for the commercial performance of Dow Jones’ consumer and corporate brands, services and products. These include The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Media Group and Professional Information Business.

As global managing director, she oversees customer engagement, acquisition and retention worldwide and is also responsible for Dow Jones’s businesses operating outside of the US.

Prior to joining Dow Jones, Ms. Vanneck-Smith spent seven years as Chief Marketing Officer for News UK, where she oversaw the bringing together of the digital and direct businesses of Customer Direct with the sales and marketing of News UK’s three title brands: The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times. She previously served as Sales & Marketing Director for the Times, and Managing Director of News UK’s Customer Direct group. Before joining News UK, she held the roles of Sales & Marketing Director and Marketing Director at The Daily Telegraph.

Ms. Vanneck-Smith sits on the UK-based Digital Media Advisory Board and is a member of Marketing Group of Great Britain and Women in Advertising and Communications.

She was recognised as Pioneer of the Year at the 2016 British Media Awards. Katie is also a Mentor with The Marketing Academy and has completed the Academy’s CMO Fellowship Programme.

Ms. Vanneck-Smith graduated with a Masters degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford, St Hugh’s College. She lives in New York with her husband and son.
