Lester Holt

Lester Holt is an award-winning journalist and anchor of "NBC Nightly News," the network's flagship broadcast and America's most-watched evening newscast. Holt was named to the role in June 2015 after eight years as anchor of "NBC Nightly News" weekend editions and twelve years as co-anchor of "Weekend Today." In addition, Holt has served as principal anchor of "Dateline NBC" since September 2011.

Holt joined the NBC News family in 2000 and has reported from many of the world's hot spots. In early 2015, he reported from Paris on the tragic terrorist attacks at the offices of Charlie Hebdo. In early 2011, Holt reported from the streets of Cairo on the latest political and civil unrest in Egypt. In March 2011, he also traveled overseas to cover the earthquake and nuclear crisis in Japan. In 2010, Holt traveled to Haiti where he reported on the immediate aftermath and response to the devastating earthquake.
