Michael Zimbalist has been senior vice president, advertising products and research and development of The New York Times since December 2013. In this capacity he provides strategic leadership across advertising products, ad operations, inventory, yield management and programmatic. He also oversees industry and agency relations. Michael founded The Times’ R&D Lab in 2006. R&D’s mission is to drive innovation and change through user-driven design. Digital products based on and inspired by R&D prototypes have made their way into all parts of The New York Times. In 2012 he was named a Media Maven by Advertising Age, and in 2013 he received a Service Excellence Award from the IAB. Previously, among other things, he co-founded Digital Content Next (formerly OPA), general managed the Dilbert Zone and was a Disney Imagineer. He received a B.A. degree in chemistry and philosophy from Brown University.
