Josh Tyrangiel

Josh Tyrangiel is Chief Content Officer for all of Bloomberg LP Editorial, including Bloomberg News, Bloomberg Digital, Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Projects & Investigations, Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Markets, and Bloomberg Pursuits. Tyrangiel is also the editor of Bloomberg Businessweek. He oversaw the January 2015 launch of Bloomberg Business, Bloomberg LP’s flagship digital destination that unifies its most powerful media assets to deliver a modern news experience.

Tyrangiel joined Bloomberg LP as editor of Bloomberg Businessweek in November 2009 and is credited with the successful redesign and relaunch of the magazine for a new breed of business leader. Under Tyrangiel, Bloomberg Businessweek has grown in frequency, rate base, editorial pages and ad pages. Bloomberg Businessweek received the 2014 Best in Business Award for Magazines, General Excellence, from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW); the 2012 National Magazine Award for General Excellence in the general-interest category; and was named to Adweek\\\'s 2011 \\\"Hot List\\\" as one of the most influential magazines of the year. The Bloomberg Businessweek+ App won a 2012 Webby Award for best News app. Tyrangiel was named Advertising Age\\\'s 2012 Editor of the Year and was on the Crain\\\'s New York Business 2012 \\\"40 Under 40\\\" list. He received the 2015 Corporate Leader Award from the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC). Tyrangiel was the producer of the critically acclaimed 2013 documentary film “HANK: Five Years From the Brink,” featuring former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and timed to the fifth anniversary of the start of the global financial crisis.

Prior to joining Bloomberg LP, Tyrangiel was deputy managing editor of TIME magazine and managing editor of TIME.com, where he more than quadrupled the website’s traffic in three years. Tyrangiel started at TIME in 1999. He began his journalism career at Rolling Stone and Vibe magazines, and MTV Networks. As a news producer for MTV, Tyrangiel worked on the Peabody Award-winning “Choose or Lose” pro-democracy campaign that encourages young people to register to vote.

Tyrangiel received a M.A. in American Studies from Yale University and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
