Alex da Kid
London native and Grammy-winning music producer Alex Da Kid has accomplished more in six years than many do in a lifetime. After first gaining notoriety in the US for his production of Nicki Minaj's debut single "Massive Attack," Alex produced rapper B.o.B.'s "Airplanes" and collaborated with Eminem on the sequel track, "Airplanes Pt. II". This collaboration ultimately led to Alex's production of Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie" ft. Rihanna, the biggest-selling song of 2010. "LTWYL" spent seven consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and still stands as Eminem’s best-selling single of all time.
Highlighting his amazingly illustrious career is the fact that the best-selling singles by Rihanna, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Imagine Dragons were all written and produced by Alex. In addition, he has also written and produced hit singles for T.I., U2, Diddy, Christina Aguilera, Lupe Fiasco, and many more. Among the most sought-after producers and writers in the industry today, very few have established the track record of success such as Alex.
In May 2011, Alex created a label partnership with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records: KIDinaKORNER. He also started his publishing company, Songs for KIDinaKORNER, in partnership with Universal Music Group Publishing. His first artist signing was collaborator and singer/songwriter Skylar Grey, who wrote the hook for Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie." Alex, Grey, and Eminem continued to team up, resulting in Grey's July 2013 LP release Don't Look Down, which featured Alex and Eminem as the album’s Executive Producers. Eminem was also featured on the album's first single "C'mon Let Me Ride" and the album debuted at #2 on iTunes. Alex's second signing to both KiaK and his publishing company was a then-unknown rock band, Imagine Dragons. Imagine Dragons’ debut album Night Visions catapulted them to the top of the rock and pop charts with blockbuster hits “It’s Time”, “Radioactive”, and “Demons”. The album debuted No. 2 on the Billboard album chart with the best first-week sales for a rock band’s debut in six years. Their music represents the perfect concoction between the bands guitar-driven ethos and Alex’s pop and urban sensibilities. Billboard called “Radioactive,” the “best of three big genres" and a "perfect storm”. “Radioactive” was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2014, including Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance, securing a win in the latter category. To date, Night Visions has sold over 4 million albums worldwide and over 21 million singles. Imagine Dragons’ newest release, Smoke + Mirrors, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, behind hit singles “I Bet My Life” and “Shots”. Alex was the brainchild behind the band’s collaboration with Target, which included a live commercial during the 2015 Grammy Awards featuring a live performance of “Shots”. They have been on a worldwide tour since June. X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons round out KIDinaKORNER’s roster. The summer of 2014 was particular big for Jamie and X Ambassadors as their collaboration, “Jungle,” was prominently featured in Beats Music’s “The Game Before the Game” World Cup media campaign. The song became such a cultural phenomenon that Jay-Z was featured on the remix. This version eventually hit #1 on iTunes in over 16 countries worldwide. X Ambassadors released their first full-length album, entitled VHS, in late June. The first single “Renegades” has seen unparalleled success on alternative radio nationwide, stemming from extensive exposure in a national ad campaign for the Jeep Renegade. The single spent 11 straight weeks at number one on alternative radio. VHS features collaborations with label mates Imagine Dragons and Jamie N Commons. The band joined Milky Chance on tour this summer before heading out on headline dates the remainder of the year with Skylar Grey. Alex’s most recent notable achievement was partnering with global ad giant WPP and Sir Martin Sorrell to form KIDinaKORNERCreate. Alex says, “the company offers a new model, bringing music to the forefront of every level of the creative process; planning, strategy and execution. This approach will create more substantial and meaningful engagement with the audience”. After being named to Billboard’s Top 40 Under 40 list each of the past two years, as well as one of the Evening Standard’s most influential people, Alex’s profile as a writer, producer, executive, and entrepreneur is only gaining steam.
