Eileen Heisler has enjoyed a 23-year career writing on some of television’s biggest hits.
Heisler, who hails from a suburb of Chicago, attended Indiana University where she met her writing partner DeAnn Heline. Later, she transferred to New York University where she earned a B.F.A in television from NYU’s famed Tisch School of the Arts.
A break on ABC’s Doogie Howser, MD lead to writing on the staff of Roseanne. During her tenure, the show won the Peabody Award, the Humanitas Prize, and the Golden Globe. From there, (with Heline) she went on to produce Murphy Brown where in two consecutive years series star Candice Bergen won Emmys for episodes written by Heisler & Heline, and the series won a Humanitas. Heisler went on to Executive Produce and showrun such successful series as Ellen and How I Met Your Mother. After that, she had several development deals at NBC during which she created and Executive Produced Three Sisters, Committed, and Lipstick Jungle.
Currently, Heisler is Executive Producer on the 6th season of the hit ABC sitcom The Middle, which she and Heline created. The show has been twice nominated for the Humanitas Prize, the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, won the Gracie Allen award for Best Comedy, and earned numerous critical accolades.
Heisler resides in Pacific Palisades with husband Adam Wolman, a television executive, and their twin boys, Justin and Ben (15).
