Josep Mitjà

Josep Mitjà (Girona) is the co-founder of Rakuten.tv and the COO of the company and alongside CEO Jacinto Roca, they founded Wuaki.tv in 2009.

In 2012, connected by a deep belief in the value of empowerment, the company became part of Rakuten, the Japanese internet giant led by Hiroshi Mikitani. Since then Wuaki.tv has expanded to 12 countries, becoming one of the leading video-on-demand platforms in Europe. In July 2017 the company rebranded from Wuaki.tv to Rakuten TV.

Mitjà studied telecommunications engineering in Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
and he also has an MBA of IESE in Barcelona and MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.
He started his career at BASF in Germany and Spain, he has been Director of Open Solutions Alliance and he served as Director at DiamondCluster International, where he worked in more than 10 countries, across 3 continents advising senior executives in the high-tech industry. He has been Director of Openbravo S.L, in charge operations and leading the development of financial, sales and marketing capabilities and services for partners within it.
