Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem

Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem is a brand, marketing and communications expert with 20 years of experience.

She joined the senior management team of Union Bank in April 2014 to head the Corporate Affairs & Corporate Communication and has been a key part of the bank’s transformation, leading the rebranding and repositioning of the iconic financial brand.
In 2015 she led the successful roll out of Union Bank’s award winning identity, which to date has garnered several accolades including two Transform MENA awards for Best Brand Development to Reflect Changed Mission / Vision / Positioning and BestVisualIdentityfortheFinancialServicesSectorin2016; andMarketingWorld Awards for Brand Evolution of the Year and Iconic Brand of the Year in 2017.

She continues to work diligently to reposition the brand and in 2017 she oversaw the launch of the hugely popular “Uncle Thomas” campaign that challenges public perception of the brand. In addition to rebuilding the Union Bank brand, Ms. Ekezie-Ekaidem is also deeply committed to driving Union Bank towards activism that enables the average Nigerian. She is currently leading the bank’s effort to coordinate a USD$350 million (N100 billion Naira) private sector fund committed to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria.

Prior to joining Union Bank, she spent 7 years with Citibank, where was Vice President of Public Affairs Officer for Nigeria and Ghana.

Earlier in her career, she held various brand and marketing communication roles in Nigeria and the United States.

She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA with a double-degree in Journalism (Advertising) and Criminology. She is also a fellow of the ArchiBishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Programme, an elite leadership training programme committed to raising the next generation of visionary and ethical African leaders.
