Richard Mullender

Richard has over 30 years’ experience working as a police detective and hostage negotiator and was part of the team that negotiated the high-profile release of three UN workers held hostage by the Taliban in 2004. Richard’s skills were so well regarded that he was appointed lead trainer at Scotland Yard’s National Hostage and Crisis Negotiation Unit.

In the decade since leaving the police, Richard has established his own independent consultancy teaching the skills and techniques of witness/suspect interviewing and hostage/crisis negotiation and placing them firmly in the commercial world.

Richard teaches effective and persuasive communication techniques, providing the tools to enable us to listen to and identify the values, beliefs and motivations of others in order to ethically influence the choices they make and turn information into intelligence.
