Janet Street Porter

Janet’s career is a vast, impressive, exhausting award-winning romp through print (Independent on Sunday, Daily Mail, Evening Standard), radio (LBC) and broadcast (LWT, Channel 4, ITV, BBC) media - spanning five decades.
Starting out as a fashion writer in the late 60s, she moved from newspapers into TV, via radio, during the 70s. In 1981, Janet oversaw the innovative Network 7 on Channel 4, winning a BAFTA. She was then Head of Youth and Entertainment for the BBC, commissioning Red Dwarf, Rapido and Rough Guide. In 1999 Janet moved back into print media as Editor of the Independent on Sunday.
Janet has appeared on numerous TV shows including The F Word, IACGMOOH! and Celebrity MasterChef. She is a regular on Question Time, HIGNFY and Loose Women and writes for the Daily Mail and the Independent on Sunday. She has written two memoirs, two self-help guides and two books on walking. Janet knows everybody, travels a lot and lives in London, Kent and Yorkshire with her partner Peter.
