Junichi Kawai

Junicih Kawai works at Google Inc. as an Industry Director of Retail and Travel. He led Japanese industry-wide transformation to accelerate digital collaboration with major advertisers.

Before joining Google, he was a Managing Director/COO of IMJ Corporation and also President and CEO in IMJ Mobile Inc, since June 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where he served various clients as a core member of APAC Telecommunications Practice and Global Mobile Practice.

Junichi started his career at Recruit in 1994, and has worked extensively in the areas of strategic planning for digital marketing since then. At Recruit, he launched the large-scale web services, engaged in the investment on many start-ups and venture companies, and led R25/R25 Mobile, and expanded new cross media marketing method. He was also appointed as a board member of Media Shakers Inc., the joint venture between Dentsu Inc. and Recruit Co., Ltd, in 2006.
