Michael Rodrigues

Mike's early career saw him wear out work boots in railway yards as a civil engineer before advising banks and contractors in boardrooms across Australia and the Middle East as a finance lawyer. The next illogical step was a career in the creative industries where he licensed the global entertainment brand Time Out and launched it in Sydney in 2007 on the same day the sub-prime mortgage market collapsed in the US. After a rollercoaster 10 years he led the sale of the local business back to Time Out global.

Mike reckons Time Out's mission, to inspire people to go out and have a good time in their cities, has got challenging in Sydney in the last few years. And so he's undertaken to re-establish Sydney's struggling nightlife. In so doing he co-founded and now chairs the Night Time Industries Association, a new industry body whose members are drawn from across the night time economy: hospitality, live performance, arts, culture, retail and music.
