Alan Brown

Alan Brown is Founder and Chairman at DNA – an independent advertising agency headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Alan is a 2022 “40 Over 40” honoree by Campaign US and helped lead DNA to being named an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year in 2021.
Alan’s career in marketing began client-side at Procter & Gamble, followed by Pepsi-
Cola where he gained an appreciation not only for the value of consumer insights and solid strategy, but for the insane level of responsibility clients shoulder. This has helped contribute to DNA’s average client tenure exceeding a decade.

Alan has been a long-time advocate in DEI, serving as an inaugural member of CEO
Action for Diversity and Inclusion. In 2017, Alan received the Puget Sound Journal’s
Outstanding Voice recognition for his leadership on LGBTQ+ issues in the business
community. Alan led the creation of Project: SugarFree, and AI driven program that is intercepting sexual predators targeting underaged children and youth online, which was a 2022 EFFIE Award Winner and a 2022 “World Changing Idea” finalist by Fast Company. Also this year, Alan initiated Come Out To Work, a social campaign encouraging LGBTQ+ people to share their stories of being out in the workplace. Outside of work, Alan enjoys serving on the board of StolenYouth, an
organization working to end child sex trafficking in Washington state and is also the father of two teenagers.
