John Hindman
Mr. Hindman has 46 years of experience in public and international affairs, specializing in the areas of international protocol, policy, marketing, training, education and career development programs, and communications in academic, private sector, international and federal sectors. His experience spans consulting, academic, and corporate settings involving program/project management; human resources management; technology transfer operations management; public relations; conference management; technical editing/writing; intercultural communications; major procurement/proposal support; and development and implementation of international training, education, and career development programs.
He has an extensive record of significant contributions to federal domestic and international technology and policy analysis, technology communications/outreach, and partnership development in his 34 years of contractor support activities for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory and its predecessor organizations. For 11 years, Mr. Hindman was a private consultant to academia, corporations, and foreign governments on international protocol, and training, education and career development programs.
Since 1991, Mr. Hindman has been a member of the Western Pennsylvania District Export Council (WPADEC) by appointment by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce. He chaired the WPADEC Operations Committee from 1993 to 2001; served on the WPADEC Newsletter Editorial Board from 1991 to 2014; and has been a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Energy Team since 2005. Since March 2014, he has served on the Board of Directors of GlobalPittsburgh, and was elected Chair in January 2015. Since May 2014, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania’s Careers in Energy Initiative.
Mr. Hindman holds B.S. degrees in both Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh.
