Karim Amer is an Egyptian-American filmmaker based in New York City best known for producing the documentary, The Square (AL MIDAN) (2013). The film was nominated for an Academy Award and received Emmy Awards for Directing, Cinematography, and Editing in 2014. Karim also produced the award-winning documentary, Rafea: Solar Mama (2013), and teamed up with Angelina Jolie to executive produce the Academy Award nominated animated feature, The Breadwinner (2017). His most recent film, The Great Hack, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and launched globally on Netflix on July 24th of this year. He is currently in production on a documentary series for HBO about NXIVM.
