Steven Shalit is the vice president of advertising for The New York Times, a position he assumed in October 2013. Mr. Shalit is responsible for managing the national advertising sales teams, setting sales strategy and overseeing tablet and mobile ad sales for all New York Times advertising sales categories. Previously, he was the advertising director for technology and telecommunications, from 2011 to 2013.
Since joining The Times in 2005, Mr. Shalit has held a variety of advertising positions, including advertising director of technology from 2009 to 2011, advertising director travel from 2006 to 2009 and account manager of travel from 2005 to 2006. Before joining The Times, Mr. Shalit was a senior account executive in advertising sales at USATODAY.com, from 2001 to 2005. Previously, he was regional advertising manager of Expedia, Inc. and before that he was the senior director of business development for United Online.
