Gabriela Frias is a Mexican journalist with over two decades of experience. Frias currently anchors Portafolio Global, a daily business program that seeks to open the doors to understanding global business news and economic trends that are shaping our world, including the fourth industrial revolution and all the innovations that are transforming the way we learn, work and live.

Frias was for more than 13 years, the International and Latin American presenter of financial news on CNN, interviewing world leaders, reporting on the global financial issues, traveling to high-level events, such as the G-20 in Mexico and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She is recognized as a leader in business journalism in Latin America.

Frias joined CNN in Atlanta in 2000 as a producer and contributor to the CNN en Español evening business program. She quickly moved to anchoring her own personal finance program En Efectivo, which was launched in 2001 and aired for ten years. In 2010, she moderated Mexico 2020, an important initiative between CNN en Español and CNNMexico.com, looking at the next decade and the country’s objectives.

At the end of 2010, Frias took her business journalism experience to CNN en Español Primetime, joining co-anchor Xavier Serbia in the launch of CNN Dinero.

She has interviewed many presidents, ministers, high level financial and economic authorities, among them Christine Lagarde, the current Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, the former Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn during the financial crisis; and an exclusive interview with the then winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Muhammad Yunnus.

Frias frequently contributes to economic education by moderating and participating in forums throughout the region. She also provides a Latin American perspective for our sister networks CNN International and CNN.

Frias's contributions to CNN have not only been limited to business. She anchored the coverage of the terrorist attacks of September 11 in the United States and the war in Iraq. Gabriela also traveled to Arizona to report on immigration reform.

Previously, Frias worked as a business reporter for Reforma, one of the most important newspapers in Mexico, since 1997. In 1998, she held the double position of co-presenter and reporter for Negocios México, a joint project between Reforma and CNN en Español.
