Enrique R. Martínez

Enrique R. Martínez is chairman of the board of the Latin American Multichannel Advertising Council (LAMAC), a non-profit advocacy group whose mission is to provide national and international advertisers and their agencies with the most up-to-date, comprehensive and actionable business intelligence on the growing world of multi-channel platforms and their premium video content. In this role, Martínez is responsible for leading the overall strategy and execution of the LAMAC partners priorities across Latin America. Martínez was part of the organizing committee that envisioned the formation of LAMAC in 2002, which started out with a handful of members that has now grown to include over 57 networks from 8 of the most powerful media companies in the world which include A+E Networks Latin America, AMC Networks International Latin America, Discovery Latin America, FOX One Stop Media, NBC Universal International Networks, Sony Pictures Television, Turner Broadcasting System Latin America and Viacom International Media Networks-The Americas.
Prior to this role, Martínez served as president and managing director of Discovery Latin America/U.S. Hispanic/Canada (DLA/USH). He was responsible for the company’s business and operational units for Discovery’s 13 real-world entertainment networks in Latin America as well as two U.S. Hispanic networks. He oversaw Discovery Communications’ business in Canada and was a board member of Discovery’s joint venture with Bell Media in that market. Martinez also served on the board of Vix, a digital media entity, as well as Megavision, Chile’s leading broadcaster, both of which DLA/USH had a minority investment.
During his tenure at Discovery, Martínez helped create a diverse and successful portfolio of networks in Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula and the U.S. Hispanic market. His leadership was instrumental in consolidating the company’s flagship network, Discovery Channel, as the leading brand in Latin American factual programming. He is also credited with turning Discovery Kids into a top source of quality programming for young viewers and the #1 preschool network in Latin America, and Discovery Home & Health into the leading lifestyle network for women. DLA/USH’s 13 combined brands grew to reach 373 million cumulative subscribers in 48 countries and territories and customized in three languages.

Martínez holds an MBA from the University of Miami, Fl. and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Pepperdine University, Malibu, Ca. and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. He is past Chairman and current Board member of the Wow Center, a training and activity center in Miami for adults with developmental disabilities and serves as a member of the Baptist Hospital Health System's International Advisory Board.
