Shelina Janmohamed is the Director for Consumer Equality at Ogilvy Consulting, a new framework for the relationship between ethnicity, consumer experience and commercial growth. She believes that the next paradigm shift for the advertising world is to introduce the discipline of 'consumer equality' across its commercial functions for business success and to tackle societal inequalities. The first milestone in this is the groundbreaking "Consumer Equality Equation Report", a two year initiative at WPP producing the UK's most comprehensive study ever into ethnicity and consumer experience. She is also Ogilvy's Vice President of Islamic Marketing. She is the host of the news and current affairs podcast The Shelina Show, as well as non-fiction and children's author and a newspaper columnist.
Shelina describes herself as an outsider-insider to the advertising industry having been here for just over a decade, with at least three careers beforehand. She believes that's her superpower, and believes the industry needs to be reminded of how powerful it can be.
