Kevin Cummins
Manchester born Kevin Cummins has an international reputation as one of the world's leading photographers.
His iconic portraits of rock musicians as diverse as Joy Division, The Smiths, Bjork, Manic Street Preachers, Courtney Love and David Bowie have graced magazine covers, galleries and bedroom walls the world over and are included in the collection of The National Portrait Gallery and The V&A amongst others. Photographing Bowie on stage in 1973 while at Art School was directly responsible for Cummins choosing to shoot Rock ’n’ Roll professionally.
Kevin has published seven critically acclaimed monographs to date. He has been awarded two honorary doctorates (one from Manchester Met University and one from Palermo University in Buenos Aires). He has lived in London since 1987 but retains strong links with his home city. He has recently been invited to talk about Manchester to accompany his forthcoming exhibition at Sydney Opera House.
