Alan Gilpin is the Head of Rugby World Cup at World Rugby (formerly the International Rugby Board), and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the globally-renowned Rugby World Cup brand, with current focus on the preparations for Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and Japan 2019.
Previously a lawyer, and with a strong track record in sport and business, Alan has been involved in the management and delivery of Rugby World Cup since 2001 in a number of roles.
Alan joined the IRB from his previous role as Chief Operating Officer of official hospitality providers, Rugby Travel & Hospitality Ltd and Prestige Ticketing Ltd, where he oversaw the award-winning hospitality programmes for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Rugby World Cup. Prior to the London 2012 role, Gilpin spent nine years with IMG, including responsibility for commercial rights negotiation across Rugby World Cup 2003, 2007 and 2011.
