Setsuto Murai takes up the Country Manager post at Niantic K.K in December, 2015. As the representative of Niantic K.K, the Niantic’s first local corporation, he seeks the business development in Japanese market and the growth of Real World game.
Before joining Niantic K.K, he contributed the development of Google Map, as Head of Geo partnership in Google Japan. He engaged in all the development of new functions provided on Google Map between 2008 to 2015. He constructed strategic partnerships on Google Map datas, providing Japanese market with new services such as aerial views, indoor maps, route directions, Google Ocean, and Google Moon etc. In 2015, he was also in charge of partnership business for Australia/New Zealand maps.
In addition to Google Map, he contributed to several Google Crisis Response activities, including recovery assistance for Tohoku as a core of the team, and also the advancement of Google Art Project as the representative in Japan.
